LashBack meets with FTC about proposed National Do-Not-Spam registry

St. Louis, MO – Last week, executives of Metro-east anti-spam software developer, LashBack met with the President’s anti-spam task force who are hopeful that a proposed National Do-Not-Spam registry could mirror the success of the FTC’s National Do-Not-Call List program. LashBack intends to provide assistance and offer new ideas in the government organization’s efforts to battle the growing tide of unsolicited commercial email. The FTC has recently submitted a request for information, asking anti-spam industry experts to assist them in evaluating methods to identify and punish ‘spammers’ who fail to honor the unsubscribe requests of consumers who no longer wish to receive their email advertising.

The proposed Do-Not-Spam registry would allow consumers to submit their email address to the FTC website, where a list would be maintained – a list to which no email advertiser would be allowed to send its advertisements. While the advantages of a program such as this are obvious, the ability to track violations, violators and protecting the identity of those on the list are the challenges in offering such a program. The FTC is hoping companies like LashBack can help provide insights into how technology can overcome these hurdles.

As anti-spam technology patent-holders, LashBack currently provides consumers with an easy-to-use software tool that blocks, filters and automatically unsubscribes its users from spam. Its latest release of their second version of the LashBack product provides expanded functionality for Microsoft Outlook users, with plans in the near future to expand their compatibility to other email applications such as Outlook Express, Eudora and more.

LashBack’s unique approach to fighting spam is their branded Automatic Safe Unsubscribe feature which evaluates email advertising companies to determine if their Unsubscribe links are truly used to remove addresses from email lists. If they honor such requests, LashBack labels the advertiser as ‘Trusted’ and allows its customers to be automatically removed, without any interaction required from the customer. It is this patent-pending feature that LashBack has boasted will “leverage the power” of the recently signed CAN-SPAM Act, which requires that all email advertisers have a working Unsubscribe link.

LashBack’s Automated Safe Unsubscribe feature, along with their one-button spam-removal solution, is making computer users worldwide take notice of the new company.

LashBack’s software offerings are free to try for 14 days and are available on their website at www.lashback.com.
